Trover is a great new social network that lets you share local discoveries wherever you are in a unique, visually stunning way acting as a kind of visual diary for great places to visit.

Th focus of the app lies in sharing photos of your location so as well as discovering some great sites there is also some great photography so the app appeals both to explorers and photographers

The app is free app although you do need a Facebook account to connect to.

Once you open the app you will find photos with a description of the location and a Google Map to the location. You can also follow other Trovers to find those who have located the most interesting areas to visit.

Having used the app I can say that unlike other travel apps Trover reveals interesting places to visit precisely because it doesn’t rely on guide books but on users inputting their own experiences thus I’ve found some outstanding areas of natural beauty and quirky sites I wouldn’t otherwise have considered visiting!

Guide books give you the sites that everyone visits while Trover gives you the potential to locate sites that are the hidden gems of travelling (on your doorstep, a few miles from your home or abroad).
