Appertunity recently came across another amazing app which will appeal to those who love photography – it’s called Sfera.
I’ve long had a love of unusual photography from 3D to 360 panoramas and this app is perfect if you love to capture your surroundings in a novel way.
Created by Yudo inc Sfera is an iphone application that allows you to take 360 degree photos of your surroundings, objects or yourself.
However before you get too exited note that this app requires that your phone to have a compass and thus it is restricted to later model iphones but there is a ‘Sfera viewer app’ which is free and allows you to view Sfera 360 degree photos on your iphone even if you lack a compass.
It’s worth downloading as it includes some examples of 360 degree photography taken with Sfera plus its free (Sfera viewer available on the app store HERE)
Sfera is very simple to use. the app also records a short sound clip of your surroundings and both files can be sent via email to other iphone users. The photo is sent as an attached file with a Sfera Viewer download link (which is the Sfera’s photos free viewer application).
Three ways of using Sfera.
1) Spin on the spot and this will show the environment around you.
2) Focus on a single object and walk around it to create an almost 3D feel
3) For iphone 4 users you can rotate with your iPhone 4 using the front-facing camera creating face and environmental image.
There is a % number which lets you know how far you have to spin to complete the image and a line representing the angle the camera is being held at meaning that if you maintain the same position, you know the photo taken will be at the right angle.
Sfera is available from the App Store at £1.19 until September 30 2010 after this, it will rise to £2.99 so get it while you can!
Here are a couple of videos demonstrating what Sfera can do:
You can get Sfera in the app store HERE
