Ben McOwen Wilson ITV director of online media noted
“Our aim at ITV is to make our content available when and where our viewers want to watch it.”
ITV’s first World Cup game streamed to the iphone was South Africa versus Mexico on 11th June 2010. The number of online viewers watching ITV.com’s live streaming for the 1-1 draw between South Africa and Mexico grew rapidly to 90,000, viewers which ld to a few problems…
“We had a problem with our CDN [content distribution network] which was preventing new members joining the stream,” a company spokeswoman said. “It was an issue since half time in the game.”
Lets hope there are no further issues when ITV show England v USA on 12th June 2010 at 7.30pm.
BBC One will show England versus Slovenia on June 23rd (kickoff at 3pm) and the Algeria game is on the 18th.
