IPHONE PROJECTS – CREATING WALLPAPERS
There are a variety of iphone apps which provide wallpapers for your phone an example being Cool wallpapers.
There is even one which lets you turn Bing’s (Decision engine! Get over yourselves!) search engine wallpapers into iPhone wallpapers (Bing wallpaper downloader).
However you can make your own wallpapers by being creative with apps you may already have on your iphone!

Creating your own wallpapers from the apps you have whilst listening to some of your own music has the added benefit that as well as being quite enjoyable it can also be quite relaxing and no doubt therefore a good way to spend a therapeutic half hour!
SCREEN CAPTURES FOR IPHONE WALLPAPERS
There are a number of ways to create wallpapers for your iphone but the easiest is a simple screen capture!
To capture an image of your iphone screen press and release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. A white flash of the screen lets you know the screenshot was taken. The created screenshot is added to the Camera Roll and can be edited with apps like photogene (paid) or photoshop (free).
I’ve created a few wallpapers as examples and these are shown below. I used some of the apps I own plus photogene and Best camera app (reviewed HERE) to manipulate (removing or covering up elements that would make the images unsuitable for use as wallpapers).
I have also included links to the apps I used to create some of the wallpapers in case any take your interest.
I will also be reviewing each of these apps (amoungst the normal posts of news, views and tales of the iPhone) over the next few posts…
1.) A screen shot of a game can be used as a backdrop. Here’ one from the game iRoach and another from Artificial Life
(iRoach)
2.) Some times apps come with their own selection of back drops which can be used as iphone wallpapers. This one is from Awesome Notes
3.) It can be a simple screen shot* of a virtual fish tank…
(iQuarium) above
(My Reef 3D) above
4.) or be as complicated as painting your own masterpiece (if your artistic skills are up to that). Iphone art has graced the cover of New Yorker magazine on numerous occasions now. More on iphone art in a post coming soon!
(Brushes)
Here’s an abstract cityscape of my own (I’m sure my skills will improve!)
5.) Art app is a virtual art gallery on your iphone great for screen shots like this, you may have a similar app you can use for screen shots…
(Art app)
6.) You can find more abstract wallpapers in unusual locations such as this musical gem Balls!
(Balls)
7.) Even the library of Congress can provide inspiration as sea dragon shows
This color chart also came from Seadragon
8.) These beautiful Wa Kingyo fish come with a large selection of backgrounds and make great wallpapers
9.) Screen shots of Volt App lead to some interesting designs
(Volt)
10.) Apps such as iZen or photoshelf can be an almost endless source of iphone wallpapers as they let you manipulate a variety of iphone wallpapers
(iZen)
Remember when cropping photos that a width of around 320 and a height of around 480 is best. Also be sure not to crop too much or your image may loose clarity.
Now go take a browse through your apps with fresh eyes and see what wallpapers you manage to come up with!
