I love the concept of this UFO reporting app for the iphone but it needs some work both visually and practically!
I always think that any app for the iPhone needs to be as slick and as attractive as the phone itself so this app needs a nice new interface!
You wouldn’t put furry dice in a Ferrari so too with iPhone apps (Oops! I spoke too soon! Sigh! Get your iphone furry dice for iphone HERE! Really! What next lol)
UFO spot iphone app allows you to report your own close encounters and to view other reports of UFO activity in your area or abroad.
It has a map of the world and reported UFO sightings are uploaded by users.
The map function is pretty good and shows the UFO sightings around your current location or zoom out for the rest of your country.
There is a function to filter the sightings based on the classic UFO classification system explained below:
1) Close Encounter of the First Kind or CE1: A sighting of one or more unidentified flying objects (UFOs)
2) Close Encounter of the Second Kind or CE2: An observation of a UFO, and associated physical effects from the UFO
3) Close Encounter of the Third Kind or CE3: An observation of alien beings in association with a UFO sighting.
These traditional classifications are fine but I don’t belive the app should focus on them as CE3s are quite rare.

I also find it odd that the ‘Report a UFO Sighting’ function has an optional description panel. UFOs are all about the details and are essentially stories so the app shouldn’t allow a report without a description!
The developers also have this to say:
“With your help UFO Spot will be our best tool yet for tracking and proving the existence of extraterrestrial beings!”
As someone who has read a lot about Ufology this is an audatious statment given that many believe UFOs may not even be extra terrestrial in origin but may be an unknown atmospheric/geological phenomenon akin to ball lightning (often referee to as earth lights).
Perhaps i’m taking this app too seriously but for it to work as a real ufology tool it needs more functionality and the ability to add more details – weather conditions, proximity of airports, number of witnesses and contact details etc etc
Check out my screen shots for the bizarre case of suppossedly UFO related human paralysis near Blackburn in the UK
(As a side note this case nay well be a natural phenomenon involving sleep paralysis which occurs to us all during sleep to prevent us acting out our dreams so I suspect this case may have been a close encounter of the dreaming kind – whats known as a false awakening where dreams can seem as real as reality!)
Overall this is a fun app for those who are into the paranormal - a bit of fun to pass the time and nothing more – so for you die hard belivers don’t expect a serious ufological tool!
You can get the app from the developers web site here but again the quality of this app is let down even on their home page as it refers to a bird spotting app rather than ufos! Take a look HERE The actual download for this app is HERE
